- Alathur Brothers rendered this soulfully. After a long time, I heard this from another Brothers. Good rendering. Swaras with the same vivacity.
mAnasa guruguha- MD – simple catchy Ananda bhairavi.
kalyAni-Sub-main followed by one of the pancharatna kritis of kovoor, “nammi vachchina nannu” –Thyagarajar. Neraval in “Shri soundarya nAyagi pathE” and Swaram.
Ini oru kaNam unai- Sriranjani-pApanasam sivan- I always woder when they sing Tamil compositions that they do not make mistakes. Of course, small mistakes do happen but I always admire their interest in rendering one Tamil kriti, if the concert is in Chennai. (They used the word “malai samSaram” instead of “manai samsAram” in Charanam). Thinking wild, I understood, “malai samsAram” is also correct because of the “problems in samsAram (family)”
SahAna-Main-followed by “oorakE galkunA rAmuni bhakthi”- well rendered. Actually, I heard this long before through Maharajapuram santhanam concert and one cassette (AVM). Sahana is always very soothing. Once I heard MS ‘enna perum tavam” of periasamy tooran’s composition. May be from that day, my love to this rAga doubled.

Mangalam
Neyveli SS- was a last minute replacement. His experience with all senior artists helped him to give his imprint in this concert. Simple and very well patterned tani with Ganjira vidwan.
Malladi Duo’s concert is always excellent. One can copy-paste his other reviews here. For me, Vijay Siva and Malladi- both have the knack of performing to the “definition” of CM padhdhati. No aberration.
This concert also proved to be another good concert. They bring all forgotten/not heard Thyagarjar’s kritis into limelight.
Mysore Srikant (violin), Neyveli SS (mridangam) and Ganjira vidwan were close associates to enthuse the vocalists. The raga sancharas at the hands of Mysore S were enticing; while the mridangam support was graceful. The Tani was very good.
The asAveri varNam gave a glorious start to the performance, creating an environment conducive to sukham. The list of songs selected their interest in giving 100% whereever they sing without losing rasikas interest. \
It was announced before the start of the concert that they arrived from vijayawAda despite heavy rain and storm. Rasikas were was truly lucky and reciprocated their thanks to stay till mangalam.
