Abhishek Raghuram’s “neelam” concert.
Those who do not know the meaning of neelam may see the last line of this review.
AS performed the previous day in Bharathiya Vidhya bhavan in mylapore and today in NGS

The concert started at 7.10 and at 9 PM, he finished karaharapriya rAgam and at 9.30 PM, he finished the kriti and tani started.  At 9.45, he started some other kriti, when I left.

Full energy packed concert.  From start to finish, not even a second, the concert lacked interest.  From 500 people, it got reduced to 60 at 9.30 PM, but he continued .....
The magnitude of reach of any rAga and kriti rendering is exemplary.  In his dictionary, there is no word “contentment” or “enough” or “tiredness”.
For him, he releases one rAga devata (rAgam). Slowly the rAgam controls AS instead of AS controls it. The Raga makes AS a slave and releases after the former gets satisified with it. The result is absolute beauty of any rAga to the rasikAs.
Remember, he did not leave MSK any return till karaharapriya. He elaborated the rAga and immediately kriti.  But in swaram and neraval, he made all the three accompanists sweat. Even Ganjira which is normally takes a low key in all the concerts was in full flow.
His ACE effect on rasikas merits mention. Aura of consistent Energy or Abhishek creative Energy.  See the rAga line up- gowli bandu, nAttakurinji, bairavi, kalyAni, neelAmbari and karaharapriya.  He suffocated the rasikas with breathtaking Alapana and swarAs.

Tarunam Idamma- Gowlibandu-Shyama Sastri
nAttakurinji rAgam for 5 minutes followed by mAmava sadA varadE, mahishasura sundari... Swathi tirunAl kriti, neraval in   ”lalitha manihAra su lalithE mAmpAhi....”  and Swaram.
bhairavi rAgam for 5 minutes – kAmAkshi ambA- Swara jathi. Neraval in “bhakta jana kalpa lat..karunAlayA”
kalyAni- rAgam for 7 minutes-mEErana brovahitE- neraval in “nEE pAdapankajamU nera nammina vAdu gAdA..... Swaram.
karaharapriya-Main followed
sadAnandamu sarvEswara ni padAravindamu pai-bhaji- karaharapriya- Annamacharya  (RNS)- tuned by Sri.NedanUri gAru, neraval in “dayamagu tavalA” and swaram in sadAnandamu.  After neraval, I thought he is going to leave it to Tani, but he started swarAs ..mmm. great going.

Neelam is the recent name of a storm in Chennai.
I don’t see a parallel artist to have got this much  energy.  Another memorable concert.  There are two aspects,
One is the rasikAs-  I see most of them sitting at the edge of the seat with an anticipation what next, what suprise is he going to throw....what is the next volley of swarAs, neravAl.  Amazing stuff. Magnatising effect.
I observed the camera man, sitting behind the camera to the left side of the auditorium (right of the artist).  He had observing very closely AS and did not even take his eyes off.  Such a performance.
Some rasikAs discuss about sowkhyam aspect, clarity of kritis. For me, he has got sowkhyam. If he trims his rAga Alapana and sticks to the time, he will be the youngest person to get Sangeetha kalAnidhi award.
This time, he is singing in MA at 7 PM slot.  Eager to see, when he finishes the concert ?
Tani is another wonder of this concert.
