Nice that Sri.Sasikiran announced the TamburA artist name also while introducing the artists.
The problem of giving 4.45 PM slot to these artists was that they had to wrap it up within 2 hours for the next programme at 7 PM. Sabha needs to take care of this and they took till 6.50 PM and delayed the next ensemble by Mr.T.V.Gopalaksirhnan & troup. I could see Sashikiran standing restless to wrap to announce the end of the concert. Unfortunately, MBs did not have luxury what Vijay siva, Sanjay and even Unnikrishnan who were allotted 7 PM slot. Acutally, Sanjay started at 6.30 and finished at almost 9.30 PM. (will write his review, if I have time)
Neverthless, MBs gave another memorable performance in NGS on 6th of November under the auspices of Bharat sangeetha Utsav.
• evvarE ramayyA- gAngeya bhUshani- Thyagaraja. (S).
I could not stop thinking of Maharajapuram Santhanam, refusing to give Violin return to Nagai Muralidharan after he rendered this rAgam. (as told by Mah.Ramachandran). When Nagai asked the reason, he explained, the rasikas could not understand the raga and confused and so he wanted to wrap it up fast.
• Bhudam AshrayAmi- Nattakurinji- Dikshitar
Navagraha kriti on Bhudan , TiruveNkAdu kshEtra kriti, In line with Wednesday and also to satisfy Dikshitar krii in the list.
• Darbar- Submain ragam followed by Endundi vedalithivO- Thyagarajar (S)
Though previously heard from the same duo, it was soothing for that evening atmosphere. As the meaning goes, where rama hails from and Thyagarajar gives the list of places where he could not have come. So it hailed from malladi duo on that day was truly a class.
• A Verse on Sanskrit “RamabrahmAhya vidyEndra…. sangeethApti kalAnidhim” followed by “ini namakkOru kavalaiyum illai” a kriti of koteeswara Iyear on Saint Thyagarajar
Nice to hear a Tamil kriti in the middle of the concert with a clear dictum.
• kAmadEnukA AshrayE- dEnukA- kriti by Sri.Ranganatha – message to protect Cows. They said they sing this more often to propagand this.
• Main-bhyAgada followed by lOkAvana chaturA- Thyagarajar- Neraval in the same line, (S)
• Tani
• TelisithE- AnnmacharyA- hamsanadham
• durgA- Jaya jaya durgE- Tarangam by Narayana Teertha
• Verse- Srimadh payOnidhi nikEtana- karAvalamba stotram followed by TavanAma vadhAmi sadA nrukarE, krii by Ganapathi Sachinanda swami- sAlaka bairavi.
• Mangalam
VaradarAjan was having hectic day on that day as he continued for the next concert by TVG.
His violin, is as usual, superb
TAni- when mannargudi was there, there was no need to mention the quality of tani. Par Excellance along with PSP.
