Repose Faith in God Not the Astrologer.

KaRRadhum Suttadhum - a review of some one's view with my thought.

It is the topic and presently, Astrology has become so famous and people are addicted to this.   When I was studying in village or in the good olden days, this was used to find a match for a bride or groom to have a proper and happy marriage.  It is also an irony that one astrologer does not agree or his conclusions were not accepted by other astrologer.
People become addicted to astrology due to their anxiety and fear over the future.  There is no dearth of people who panic and worry about subjects like marriage, business, job, promotions and so on. One needs to understand that the favourable or unfavourable situations we face, in life, are primarily caused by the actions, we have performed in past lives. Astrology can only mitigate negative experiences, it cannot prevent them entirely.
There are so many instances from our epics where the past deeds of our ancestors affect the next generation,  Puavan Keeran, whose speeches are always captivating, tells two instances each from Ramayana and Mahabharatha to make us understand.
Santhanu, father of Devavrathan, was a womanizer. Whenever Santhanu met a girl, his first question was- whether she wants to marry him.  As a King, most of them would not have said “NO” too. Among his wives, river Ganga takes the shape of a beautiful girl and when approached by Santhanu, agreed to marry him.   He gives birth to Devavrathan and when she left Santhanu, one day, he went to forest and found another girl,  who is the daughter of a fisherman.  He instantly asked her to marry him.  After so many climax, anti climax, Devavrathan, coming to know his father’s desire,  gets her married to his father with a condition that he would become a bachelor till his death.  After this vow only, devavrathan becomes Bhishma which means invincible.
The moral of the above story says- Bhishma had to suffer, being a bachelor, throughout his life living an unhappy life because of his father’s behavior.  In tamil, “semmayAna vAzhkai”, disciplined life is important to one person to make the next generation live happily.
Another instance from Ramayana was about Ravana.  Ravana was the great king with all the qualities of a great person.  Hanuman when he first landed at Srilanka got so mesmerized by Srilanka’s beauty.  Rama too agrees, in his statement, Srilanka was “swarnamaya”, gold everywhere, rich in its beauty.  Ravana with all his qualities could have become a super king but because of his “desire to get” Sita could not live longer.  Indrajit, a great warrior and son of Ravana died in his younger age because Ravana could not live “a disciplined life”.
So, SemmayAna vazhkkai is very important to escape from Astrology.  Individual disciple is very important.
Mata AmritanandamayEE tells this interesting story on Astrology and God..
Once a mahatma gave two idols to a kind and said, “Be very careful with those idols. If they break, big calamities will befall the kindom”. The king entrusted the idols with a servant, who kept them very carefully in a special place.  One day, one of the idols broke. The king imprisoned him, knowing this. A few days later, neighbouring king attacked the kingdom,  Seething this as the fault of the servant, he ordered him to be hung. When asked whether he had any last wish, the servant said, “Before I die, I should be allowed to break the second idol”.
The kind asked him “Why are you saying this ?” The servant said, “You are having my executed because the first idol broke. Another innocent person should not be forced to die because of the other idol. The mahatma who gave those idols to you said that if the idols break, bad things will happen. He did not say that bad things will happen because the idols broke.  The breaking of the idol is merely an indication of war that was to happen.  As soon as you received the hint, you should have immediately made preparations to face the enemy king’s army.”  The Kind realized his mistake and freed him.
Mata concludes that our faith should neither be in the astrologer nor in his predictions, but in the ultimate governing power of this universe, God. The unintelligent and undiscerning actions we have performed in the past should be counter balanced with intelligent and discerning actions in the present. IF we don so, the future will become our friend.
