Adishankara in his “Subramanya Bhujangam” tells about Him before plunging to praise Lord ShanmugA.
“na jAnAmi padhyam, na jAnAmi gadhyam, na jAnAmi shabdam, na jAnAmi chArttham
chidekA shadAsyA hridhi dhyothathe me, mukhAnis saranthe giraschApi chitram”
{I know not the science of musical sounds, I know not the meanings of complex texts either, I know not the nature of shlokas made of four types of padaas, nor do I know the intricacies of the gadhyam style! But in my heart, shines an effulgent light with six luminous faces, and because of that, from my mouth, amazing phrases with musical tone and meanings pour out in extempore}.
The above is -Adi shankara’s humbleness.
Thyagaraja humbleness in his vasantha kriti- Etla dorakitivo- goes like this- “ Do I owe this blessing to the greatness of you grace, or to the blessings of great and good men? Can it be the result of my dedicated worship of NAda? Dispeller of my distress. O spouse of SrI. How blessed am I to have...”
But an ordinary devotee like me ascending to the highest position by sadhguru krupa is something unbelievable. .
Iam blessed to have visited Sringeri on last Sunday (20th July 2014). It was one of those ChaturmAysYa Days and Sri.Swamiji was performing chAturmAysya Vratha.
Let me start with Anandha koti Namaskarams to MatAji.
It was organized through “Geeta govinda Samskrita sangha at Malleshwaram”, Bangalore. MatAji, old lady, with madisAr and a divine look, held my hand and led to have darshan of Guruji.
I don’t know how should I repay this debt ? Can we ever repay ever to Guru for his gratitude & blessings ?.
kArunyam, vAtsalyam, blessings of Guru, pOOrva janma punyAm, parents blessings, - Whatever you say ? I shudder think which factor/factors contributed to my “holy visit”, and if you want to have one name for all of these, that will be “MatAji”
I happen to be one of the fortunate persons of the 40 and odd bhaktas to have gone to Sringeri. It was a group led my MatAji and every year, during this Chaturmasya period, She makes it a point to visit Sringeri with his team and have drashan of Sadhguru and also conduct the Sanskrit dramas to perform before swAmiji.
Iam learning Sanskrit from Sri.Jayraj, at Tatvaloka, Chennai. Working in a Company with a tight schedule, one of my everyday’s morning rituals is to visit Mandaveli Sringeri Temple and pray to Sharadambal to give a good health and fine spirits. I never thought even in my dreams that I would visit Sringeri that to with such a wonderful team.
Sadhguru katAksham is boundless. Sometimes you just feel lost to know how much Sadhguru bestows His blessings and carry you in the path of salvation. It was an amazing experience that each and every step in my pilgrimage journey – so many Gurus hold my hand and take me to ParamEshti Guru. Recall the events that led to sringEri visit,
• My visit to Madaiveli temple made me to join Sanskrit classes at Tatvaloka. The Pandit at SringEri-Mandeveli is one of the first Gurus, in this, to bless me.
• Through Sanskrit classes, I was able to meet Sri.Jairaj- VidhyA guru.
• I had gone to Bangalore to my brother’s house at Malleshwaram and performed Sahasrnama archana to varagoor perumal, our family deity.
• Evening, I could go to Sri. Srinivasan, who has been nurturing young kids and teach vedhaBeing bachelor, he cooks everyday and serves those kids besides taking classes. A great Guru, under whom, my brother is learning Upanishad.
My wife who could not come and stayed with my brother, suddenly, wanted to come and fortunately, seat was there to take her in tbe charter bus.
While talking about Guru, I need to have a special mention about my father, Sri.S.Kunjithapatham, and my Tirumala visit, couple of months back along with him. For me, varagoor perumal and Balaji of Tirumala are same. Iam not deeply worried, if I can’t visit Tirumala but, will be worried if I don’t visit varagoor at least once in two months.
We reached Tirumala at 3 PM. Being tired, my parents took rest but I thought of trying Rs.300 ticket for a darshan. It took me 3 and half hours to have the darshan. Returning by 7 PM, we all wanted to go for a darshan, (though, next day morning, we had arranged special darshan for my parents).
No one could believe, with my father, we could have had the darshan in 30 minutes. Then only, I realized when there is a Guru, standing next to you, everything is possible including dharshan. Yes my father who is the “permanent green card holder (devotee) “ of varagoor perumal and He is the biggest fan of my father’s soulful singing of Tarangams. Varagoor perumal just directed Balaji to give darshan to his “lovable” devotee without waiting. When I followed the Guru, I was also fortunate to have the dharhan. !!
Truly, my father is our beloved Guru. For so many Asthikas of varagoor, he is Guru too. My father. Who is fondly called as professor, always talks about Sri.Shanker and Sri.Anand for their contribution in each and every activity of varagoor.
Coming back to Sringeri journey, Sri. Jayraj, our Sanskrit teacher, is one of a person who is an epitome of “Vidhya dadhati vinayam” . A simple, ever smiling, person and strong in his basics. In this age, Iam fortunate to have a teacher like Sri. Jayraj through which I learn Sanskrit.
When he started telling about the Sringeri visit, I could not believe that I would be part of the team. Till last day, I had my own doubts. But, I had confidence on Sadhguru and Sharadadevi (of Mandaveli) to shower the blessings.
All set for a memorable journey. The ordinary bus with a whole night journey, heavy downpour at Sringeri and long walk to Sadguru ashram are not worth of concern. It was He who, despite his chaturmasya vratha, gave darshan to us and accepted our Bhiksha Vandanam.
Evening, when Mataji conducted Sanskrit classical drama, He was attentive and witnessed the entire drama. As He likes Sanskrit, his interest could be seen as he enjoyed each and every scene.
SharadAmbA darshan, nithyakarma anushtAnam and japam (with my wife) had been done as if it was pre programmed. Good Plantain leaf lunch in the afternoon and plate dinner – what else does one want ?
I need to specially mention- the volunteers of this Group. Young girls and adults who relentlessly saw that we are safe in our journey, is worth a mention. Girls chanting “guru stotras and other slokas in the bus and they looked like “Sharadhambal as a young girl”. The Sanskrit drama, performed in front of swamiji, merits mention and chanting of “Mooka pancha sati”, sAmbhastagam and other Sanskrit drama dialogues- I have not seen this from youngsters. Undoubtedly, they are blessed kids.
Also nice to share the room with Sri.Srinivas & Mrs.Srinivas-practicing CAs and another blessed couple.
While returning, the bus reached Bangalore at 3 AM, so that I had some time to have a sleep at my house and leave for Chennai by 8AM train.
How come did I not get tired, coming in the normal bus, throughout the night journey- Guru only knows ?
Iam continuing my daily visit to Mandaveli Sharadambal temple- for what ? of course- application for visit to Sringeri one more time !!!.
